slow boot up & pop-up software window

Hi everyone!

I would be grateful if somebody could help with this:-

I had an unsolvable cd driver corruption problem and so had to do a clean
reinstallation of windows xp.

On the whole everything is ok now except when the pc is started it is quite
slow at loading all the background programs, eg icons, creative taskbar, etc.
Also, a window pops-up telling me my computer comes installed with ms office
tools - I think it is a task launcher - but it doesn't seem to do anything
except slow the boot up even more and I have to keep closing it every time.

Does anyone know how to remove this pop-up window and make the computer
faster at booting up.

Cheers,

Brian.

In start>all programs>startup, make sure MS Office is not starting with XP.
I would also run antispyware tools, the one from Microsoft is good.
I also use Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware.
There are many sites to get them from, I use http://www.majorgeeks.com.
Left side, spyware tools, pick them from the list.
Also, right click My Computer>Properties>Advanced>Performance, check off the
'adjust for best performance' circle.
