slide show of photos in My Pictures

Have printed the help topics on both slideshows and filmstrips. No such
topic to click on, as "filmstrip" or "Picture Tasks" on my window with photo
files.
I've viewed photos in the past as a slide show, but can't figure out how.

What happens if you open a folder that
contains image files and go to...Tools /
Folder Options / General tab...tick...Show
common tasks in folders / Apply / OK.

Filmstrip should be found by going to...
View / Filmstrip

If that fails...try the following:

Go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

My 'techie' husband looked carefully at the problem and realized that he
hadn't set up my Windows correctly.
I don't know what he did, but now both options are available to the left of
the active screen/window.
