Site not found - error message

Sandi

When I attempt to connect to this one particular web page
(I've tried both IE 6 and Mozilla, which is Netscape
based), I get an error message.

IE 6.0: The page cannot be displayed. Can't find server
or DNS error

Mozilla: While trying to connect in the bottom status bar
it reads, "Resolving host www.websitename". After not
connecting, I get a pop-up error message stating,
"www.websitename could not be found. Please check the name
and try again."

I tried to connect using my AOL account, and I am able to
get in from there. This is on the same computer, btw.

Any ideas as to what I need to do to correct the problem?

Thank you...
Sandi

Sandi,
In the event you can not access a site and you believe it may be due to an
entry in the HOSTS file.

You can use a simple batch file to rename the HOSTS file "on-the-fly".

What ended up fixing my problem was to go into the Network
Connections (in Control Panel), go to properties for my
LAN/High-Speed connection, go to properties for the
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then enter specific DNS
servers close to me rather than having them selected
automatically. I got a list of servers out of the MS
Knowledge Base, but unfortunately, I do not still have the
link to the particular article. It was from a search on
DNS server errors.

Hope this may help someone else...
Sandi
