Sign in failed: Automation Server can't create object

When I try to start remote assistence, signing in with windows messenger, I
get an error message from Microsoft Internet Explorer in the form of a dialog
box stating "Sign in failed: Automation Server can't create object." I can't
report the problem to microsoft. I've got all the latest updates. What is
causing this and how can I fix it?
