Shutdown problems

I can tell you what I did, but no guarantee it will work for you.
In control panel, open up Power Options. Enable Advanced Power Management
(APM). Now mine powers off by itself when I shut down, just like it used to
with Win98!

Since updgrading from Windows 98 to Windows XP Pro my
computer no longer turns itself off. It simply comes up
with the old 'It's now safe to turn off your computer".
Looked for a patch file on microsoft's website to
counteract this but to no avail. Any ideas?
