shutdown on Windows 2000 Server does not power down my computer

When I shutdown my computer from Windows 2000 Server, the computer itself does not shut down. When I restart, the computer will not restart. The O/S shuts down but the Hardware itself won't reboot/shutdown as appropriate. This happened after installing a host of "critical updates".

Hi.
The problem may be caused by having the wrong drivers for your motherboard
or bios I suggest you find out what make of motherboard you have and
download the drivers from their website.

What probably happened was that one of the updates overwrote your drivers
this often happens with VIA chipsets.

thanks for the tip. I have the ASUS P4PE motherboard. I was not aware that there were drivers required for shutdown/reboot to work properly.
