Showing details in group scheduler

T

TanaMary

We've set up a group scheduler at work. I've added my own schedule but do
not want the details of my events to show to the group. I've unchecked "show
details" in the schedule and in the options box for planner in Options. I
can't turn the bloody thing off. When I close the schedule and reopen, the
"show details" is rechecked again????

Help!!!!

I think you're a little confused about what a Group Schedule will show other
people compared to what it will show you.

You have permission to see the details of your calendar (because you are
you).

When other people make a Group Schedule and view it what they see depends on
the permissions they have to other people's Calendars and whether the Show
Details box is on. If you have given NO permissions to your Calendar to
other people they will NOT see details of your Calendar regardless of
whether they check the Show Details Box or not.

I hope that helps.

Actually, no, it doesn't. Regardless of what permissions I've given others,
MY schedule offers the option of showing details or not showing them. If I
"uncheck" show details, why would it recheck the same option when I close the
session.

Sorry. I still have explained it well enough.

That is when YOU are looking at YOURSELF as you have permissions to see your
own Calendar. Test it. Go look on someone else's computer to whom you have
not given any permissions. Clicking the Show details button on and off
should do nothing when they are looking at your Calendar. If they see the
details of your Calendar items, go check your permission settings onyour
Calendar.

I get that part...I should be able to see them and no one else. Problem is,
they CAN. I did check another person's calendar....the details are blocked
until you touch the block with your cursor and there are all the details.

You're not hearing what I'm saying. WHY DOES THE BOX "SHOW DETAILS" KEEP
PUTTING THE CHECK BACK IN WHEN I'VE TAKEN IT OUT........clearly that has
something to do with the fact that all the details are showing up whether
it's in my calendar or someone else's calendar......

Does your company have a group policy that enables show details? If so, any
changes you make will be wiped out when you log off.

That is a distinct possibility; they've been putting restraints and blocks in
more heavily the last few months. I'll have my supervisor check with our IS
department. Thanks for the suggestion....
