"Setup failed to open the windows image file"

Guest

I am using Virtual PC 2004 SP1. I have Windows XP installed through that and
I am trying to upgrade it to Vista. I don't care if it has to be a clean
install or upgrade, I just want Vista to be one of my Virtual PC's.

During install of Windows Vista Beta 2 (x86), I only get to the point where
you enter your CD key. I enter my CD key and click next. Every time it
gives me the same error - "Setup failed to open the windows image file".

I have posted on many forums and looked as well. I really need a solution
to this problem. I burned to a Memorex DVD+RW at 2.4x. I downloaded the
32-bit version from Microsoft.com. I have run Nero MD5 Verifier. Please
reply to this post and tell me what is wrong and what I can do to fix it.
Thank you!

First of all, I would say Virtual PC 2004 is not a recommend choice, but
persons have been successful. I recommend using VM Ware Workstation 5.5 or
Virtual Server 2005 R2. VM Ware Workstation 5.5 preferrably. The more RAM
you assign to the Virtual Machine, the better the experience, I recommend a
minimum of 512 MBs or more.

You can download the VM Ware trial here:

Virtual Server 2005 R2:
