Setting up a new account

R

Rob

I have created a new account in XP Pro and I have a few questions.

How do you copy your personalized settings, such as menu bar, start bar,
task bar, etc.... from an old account to a new account?

How do you set an account to be the one that opens when you turn your
equipment on and Windows loads?

After I get everything I need from the old account, is it alright to delete
it?

Is there anything that I should be aware of while completing this project?

Thank you very much in advance, Rob

Each user has a folder
C:\Documents and settings\username\
containing folders My Documents ; StartMenu; SendTo; Cookies etc.
You can copy those from one user's folder to another, and also can copy
files in straightforward folders under Application data. But *not*
items held in a folder with a alpah-numeric name like S-1-5-21-something
- these match up with the users information in registry. Those are
things like Outlook express data store which you would need to back up
under the one name and restore into the other

And do not try to copy the top level files like ntuser.dat

If you want a specific account to be loaded always without a click on
Welcome; then Start - Run the line
control userpasswords2
uncheck the Box 'Users must give a Username' and Apply; there enter the
username and password to be assumed
