Setting the path to my Word Documents under My Document Folder

I think I have had a brain cramp (again). About a week ago, I believe I hit a
save button and perhaps wrote over my normal.dot file althought I am not sure
what I really did. Anyway, after I went back to Microsoft Word 2000, when I
open the application, I get a blank document with zero taskbar. Where did my
file: edit: etc taskbar elements go in the interim?

I can't remember how I did set the path up from C drive all the way down to
my 5 different folders of Word Documents. I subsequently removed Microsoft
Word and re-installed the application. Again, same results, I go straight to
a blank document with no taskbar.

How do I get the taskbar back and how to I set the pathway to the documents
when I open Word applicaton?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Don,

Have Office 2003 on my system. Setting file locations is under, Tools,
Options, File Locations tab. I know you don't have a menu right now, but
when you do, you can reset it there.

Have you done a search for normal.dot in Explorer? Try to locate the
file and rename it (normaldot.old) and restart Word to see if your Menu
returns.

Here is a site with 4 t-shooting tips that might help you:

Terry, thanks so much for your help, it does look like I did destroy or alter
the file normal.dot. After going through the 4 points of discussion you
placed on the site, I was able to open Word with a full menu and taskbar.
Bingo on #3 and I'm glad I did not have to go to #4, changing the registry.

Glad to hear it Don <sigh of relief>. Take care,
