"Auto update" as well as several other "services" will not START. I am
missing 23 critical and important updates and can't install any security, in
part, because of this. Everytime I enable a service and click start, it
jumps back to disabled. I am in deep trouble. Can anyone help me please?
TIA Also my Clock is unstable!!!!

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjunction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Has the clock become unstable recently?? If so, your system battery might be
going bad. I've seen various malfunctions occur when a system battery is
giving out. But, if system stability is caused by something like a driver
conflict, updates etc. Then I would try the easiest route, first. Have you
tried to perform a system restore? I'd suggest restoring your system back at
least a few days, before any of the problems started up. Then re-boot and
check all again.
