Some of this makes for Paranoia.
Not you, but generally.
You can try to run a few Util. from Command Prompt.
Start
Run...
CMD /K <enter>
CD\ <enter>
SFC /SCANNOW <enter>
restart
Start
Run...
CMD /K
CHKDSK /R
"Y" for yes
restart
This will take around 30 minutes. /me do at chow
time.
See how it looks now...
If you are still having trouble, we can do a
"repair" first, if you have good point ERD, and a
full backup.
Or "inplace upgrade", or If you do not. If it were
me, I would do this.
To do it, you will need your current drivers, which
are more current than the Installation CD, and you
will need to redo SP4, and do a Windows Update to
install any hotfixes, and if you use I.E./O.E. you
will need to reinstall I.E. 6 SP1.
If you use broadband, I would d/l the network
version of SP4, and run IE6SP1 from their server.
That is if you should SP4 again, and have the disk
space.
None of this will remove any data of setup files,
except monitor resolution. The first thing be to
redo "Display Settings"
If you want to do this, I will walk you through it.
It is fairly simple. Just let me know.

I have already run Norton Anti-virus repeatedly to
no
avail. Is there anything in particular I should be
looking for in my scans? Any other ideas? Thanks.
