Services.exe causing repeated crashes

Okay, I am frequently getting this error which is causing my computer to
crash. It generally seems to happen when the computer is left unattended for
a while.

The instruction at "0x5a334f2a" referenced memory at "0x00000028". The
memory could not be "read".

After clearing that error, the system gives the next errors:

The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off.
Any unsaved changes will be lost.
The system process C:\windows\system32\services.exe terminated unexpectedly
with status code 0. The system will now shut down and restart.

I believe this all started a while back when someone ran a script to attempt
to regsvr32 every file in the system32 directory. The problem now is that
although I know services.exe is failing, I don't know of any way to see a
list of all registered dlls, or how to determine which one is causing the
problem. I've tried all sorts of utilities for monitoring and logging
processes by now, but none of them have led me to the culprit. Maybe I could
even compare the list of registered dlls on my box to the list on a normal xp
box for reference, but I need to find the right tool(s) for the job.

Can anyone please help me troubleshoot this issue further whether it's by
finding out what's at that memory address, by showing me a program that helps
monitor or list services.exe subprocesses, or by any other means necessary?
