Service Pack 4

While installing Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000. The update almost completes, five hours later, when I get a warning window that says: "Unable to connect to metabase" with an "OK" button, no other choices, so I select OK. then a window that reads: "Setup failed to remove ism.dll script mappings. Service Pack Setup will abort", another "OK" button, no other choices. Then I get a window which says: "An error updating your system has occured. Select "OK" to back up all changes or
"CANCLE" to exit the setup. If you select Cancel your system isn't totally set up and may not run proerly"

I've tried using the downloaded SP4 twice and the CD version with exactly the same results.

Bob,

The metabase.bin file that's used for IIS is corrupted.

The only workaround for this issue is to uninstall IIS, install SP4, and
then reinstall IIS.
