Service Pack 2 and Outlook Express

Hi,
I installed the XP Service Pack 2 last week, and I've had nothing but
trouble with it. It conflicts with my current antivirus software, my computer
does a lot of freezing up for no reason, and the main problem is with Outlook
Express - it just won't work anymore. When I hit 'Send & Receive Mail' it
tries to connect and I end up getting an error message. I've tried deleting
and then re-entering all of my pop accounts - all the information is correct
but it's still not working. Maybe this is a problem with my ISP but it seems
to be working fine in other areas, and it seems a little strange that this
happened right after I installed the service pack.
Do you think uninstalling the service pack would fix anything? Is it a bad
idea to get rid of it (and is it even possible)? I resisted installing it for
months because I worried it would screw my computer up, and it seems like I
was right...
Any help gratefully appreciated!

This update addresses problems with OE and XP Service Pack 2:

And, yes, if worst comes to worst, you *can* uninstall SP2 via Add/Remove
Programs.

I don't think it's the wrong place because it appears that it is not
only OE that is the problem. I have had a similar problem but my
problem was that the machine sometimes booted up and sometimes it
doesn't and it also upset my Wireless, and if it isn't plugged in at
time of boot up, when I later plug in OE or IE6 won't work even though
the wireless is showing good strength etc. I then uninstalled SP2 from
the Control Panel but unfortunately the problem still existed. In the
end I rang Toshiba and they said that even though I had uninstalled SP2
they found that it still left problems. They suspect that the only
answer may be to Reload XP then install SP2 then install all my other
software. They said that 99 times out of 100 if you install SP2 on a
'fresh' install you will have no problems. I am busy backing up my data
and I suggest you do the same. I too put this Service Pack off and wish
I still had.

Why don't you describe properly the actual problems you think have been
caused by SP2 quoting error messages which arise. They may well be
simple solutions but if you do not tell us the right information you can
not be advised properly.

Hope this helps.

Did you follow all of the instructions for making certain that your system
is ready for SP2?
Which anti-virus do you use? Is it up to date?

My system worked quite well before and after SP2.
