Service Pack 2 after Beta?

Hello.

I have Windows XP. I installed beta. But I didnt have the service pack 2.
I didnt know I was supposed to have that. If I install the service pack 2
now, will the beta defender work?

Are you sure that you don't jave Service Pack 2? I believe the installer
checks for this before proceeding. See properties of My Computer.

Reinstalling Service Pack 2 is possible, but you may also need to install a
rather large number of additional critical updates via WindowsUpdate.

Hello. I went to my computer and didnt see anything about service pack 2.
Installer attempts to install and then I get a message saying that it was
interrupted because I dont have service pack 2. I know you said that I cant
reinstall. But can I install service pack 2 now or not? Please help me.

Have you installed Internet Explorer 7 beta, in any version?

If so, you should uninstall that before proceeding.

What happens if you go to Windows Update, and do an express scan?

Are you offered Service Pack 2? If so, install it. Install all offered
critical updates, and repeat the process of going back to Windows Update
until no further updates are offered.
