"Server Busy" Error with ActiveSync

First I should apologize for posting to multiple groups, but I'm not really
sure where my problem lies. I use active sync to sync my PPC (Ipaq 3765) to
2 computers. The first computer is my home computer running XP Pro and
Outlook 2003 SP3...the other computer (laptop) is also running XP Pro and
Outlook 2003, OL2003 runs connect to a server via VPN in the Online mode.
Both machines are running ActiveSynce 3.7.1 build 3244. After installing
SP3 on my home computer AS synced fine, although it did change or update
nearly everything even though nothing had changed, I attribuited this to
some strange characterisitc ofSP3. But when I try to sync with my laptop
(while OL is connected) AS trys to sync and gets though maybe 20 calendar
items and then I get a "Server Busy" message with the option to "retry" or
"switch to".

I should also mention that I connect the laptop to the server via Cable and
I've been doing this for several years with out an issue, however I've had 2
recent changes. On the home pc I installed SP3 a few days ago, but things
seem to sync up there fine. And the laptop was recently upgraded to OL2003
for OL2000, althought I have been able to sync with the upgraded laptop
until recently.

Thanks

Ral

Try reinstalling ActiveSync. Note that only ActiveSync 3.7 and higher
have been certified to work with Outlook 2003 (you can download the
latest version of ActiveSync from http://www.pocketpc.com).

Hi Ral,

I read your post yesterday but couldn't think of a solution that would work
for u.... Now call this coincidence or what ... Today I was working on a
small piece of HTML/ASP code on my Win XP computer and I happened to receive
the same error message you are referring to... but this was no where related
to MS Outlook or ActiveSync... this prompted me to check out a few things
myself....

I believe this is nothing to do with ActiveSync or Outlook since having
looked on this subject on the Internet I found that this error message is
faced by many other users while using different types of software... This
lead me to believe it must be some kind of memory or spyware application
related error... I checked for spyware on my computer but didn't find
anything.

The only thing I feel common amongst all of us is usage of a firewall
application... I use ZoneAlarm.... but surprisingly, once I rebooted my
computer I noticed the error message did not occur again !!!

I wonder what must have been the exact cause... the only difference when the
error message occured was that I was not connected to the Internet.... Wierd
I would say.. since I faced it for the very first time... i have tried to
recreate the problem but it just doesn't seem to happen again....

My advice :

1. Try updating the firewall application ... I am certain you too have one
;)
2. Delete the temporary internet files/cookies. Also check this link:

http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.php

Run Spybot to check for spyware:

http://spybot.eon.net.au/

3. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and check if there are any ghost applications
running... some kind of spy ware...

Hope this information helps you... please do post your results if you manage
to resolve the problem for benefit of others.

You're not running any firewall applications? Also try
disabling/uninstalling any antivirus programs (McAfee in particular is
known to cause problems).
