"Sent" folder

My "Sent" folder is not working (Vista Windows Mail). It is not recording
messages I send.
(Old messages up to a few weeks ago are still there).
But the messages I am sending DO get sent and successfully received by the
addressees! Obviously, though, having pressed the Send button the messages
have disappeared and I have no record of them
Is this something new? Has someone else met the problem before and solved
it?
(I am coping with the problem by creating another Sent folder, distinguished
from the original by a distinctive name, and Saving my new messages to it
before Sending).
I would welcome help,

A setting at tools>options>send tab needs to be enabled (the top
one)>apply>OK

I tried going to tools>options>send>copy sent messages to sent box...no
luck.
I'm still sending messages that people are getting, but I can't find a
way to make
them copy to my sent box.

Jim, open the Sent Items Folder>view menu>current view, enable the top and
bottom options only.
