Security Center shows uninstalled programs

How do I completely remove uninstalled security-related programs so that
they no longer show up in Security Center?

Today I tested Windows Live OneCare, then was forced to uninstall it
(because my corporate network at work requires eTrust Antivirus). But
Security Center still lists OneCare, for example, in its "Show me the
firewalls on this computer" list. What's worse, now I can no longer connect
to my corporate network, because it says I need to re-enable my OneCare
firewall first...even though Windows Firewall is enabled as it was
previously!!!

Thanks for any help,

-Doug

I uninstalled Avast! and it is still showing up in the Security Center as
well. I searched the Registry and deleted all references to Avast! and it is
still there. I downloaded their uninstaller too. Where does Vista keep this
info?

I had to a system restore and now end up with Kapersky showing up as a
firewall and antivirus in the Security Centre. The only problem is that I
uninstalled Kapersky and yet it still shows up in the Security Centre. I
have checked for "kapersky" in the registry and nothing is found. Like the
others in this thread, how do I convince Vista that they the program is no
longer there?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Stephen

Looking for information on this as well. Had to uninstall Kaspersky
because of the "out of memory bug". It's completely gone from the system,
registry included (or so I thought), but Security Center is still showing it
as active, up-to-date and working.

To fix this problem:

1. Uninstall your security apps
2. Stop the WMI service
3. Delete the files in C:\Windows\System32\WBEM\Repository
4. Restart the WMI service.
5. Reinstall your security apps.

I have an uninstalled program still showing as running and fully up to date
in the Security Center. I wanted to try your instructions, but

a) There is a service called WMI Performance which was stopped, but the
deleting of the files was not allowed.

b) I stopped the service called Windows Management Instrumentation, so I
tried stopping it. It stopped, but then every time I tried to mark any of
the 4 files Windows Explorer would shut down and restart.

Obviously, I am doing the wrong thing here - any hints as to where I am
misunderstanding your guide?
