Search Companion

Whenever I open Internet Explorer, it opens with "SEARCH"
already open in the left hand side. I hate that and I
would like to stop that from happening. I have read
through all the properties, helps, and everything I could
find to prevent IE from openning with the SEARCH button
depressed but this does not seem to be a user choice.
Does anybody have any idea how to open IE without the
SEARCH Companion autimatically running? If I had a
choice, I would rather have "FAVORITES" running instead.
Thanks for your help.

If I had a choice, I would rather have "FAVORITES" running instead.

Press Ctrl-i and Alt-F4 and then Ctrl-Shift-Esc (if NT)
to verify that iexplore.exe is no longer in the Processes list.
(e.g. switch to that tab and press I a few times).

If iexplore.exe was still running you would have your explanation
for why your changes are not being kept.

If you haven't, try opening one IE window only. Then click to close
the search area. Close IE by holding down the control button while you
click on the x in the upper righthand corner.

Hopefully, it will open normally the next time.
