Scrolling In IE

Franko

After downloading latest security patches for IE6, now
when I click mouse on scrolling bar, browser moves about
two pages up or down. If I click just below or above the
bar, it moves one page. I changed "smooth scrolling" and
mouse properties, motion etc., but there is no change
(Microsoft PS/2 mouse). For long webpages, I now have to
look to see where I'm clicking to only move one page, or
drag the bar up and down. Other programs such as Word are
OK.

Apparently a bug in the latest update - MS are aware of it.

I have the same problem. Also some strange behaviors
when trying to drag the scroll bar in IE. MS apparently
has no easy way to report bugs like this? How do we know
if they know?

A bug in the Q824145 patch. Microsoft knows about it.
Click immediately under the indicator in the scrollbar or drag the
indicator.

I too have the same problem, after jerking me around for two weeks I
received the response below from Microsoft Support:
Dear Edward,

Thanks for your feedback.

I have discussed this issue with our development experts and get to know
that we have recently received a few similar reports regarding the update
824145 from our customers. Our engineers are aware of this problem and are
working on it. Microsoft will be issuing an updated patch to solve this
issue soon. Please understand that Microsoft strives to engineer our
products to satisfy the needs of as many people as possible. Unfortunately,
some problems inevitably arise. We do try to resolve these problems to the
best of our ability. I sincerely apologize for any trouble this has caused
and your understanding is great appreciated. For more information about this
known issue, please refer to the following link:

http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/824145.htm

At present, we can remove the current 824145 patch via Add/Remove Programs
in Control Panel to temporarily work around this problem. To do this,

1. Click Start, click Settings, and click Control Panel.

2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3. Find an item named "Internet Explorer Q824145" and click it, click on the
"Add/Remove" button.

Thanks for working closely with me on this issue. If you have any questions
or concerns, feel free to let me know. I will be awaiting your reply.

Best regards,

Peterson Wu
