When I use the help menu on IExplorer6, I get an error
message when I try to use the 'related topics'.
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 519
Char: 9
Error: Object doean't support this property or method.
Code: 0
URL
mk:mad:MSITStore:C:\WINDOWS\Help\iexplore.chm::/cbar_dsk.htm
I have tried reinstalling IE , downloading a helpcont.chm
file, among other things. I have check the knowledge
base, and found similar error messages, but not this
exact one. I'm running Winxp home W/winxp sp1, and IE
6w/sp 1
ANy ideas?

You should be able to fix this by applying Microsoft Critical Update
811630, which is available from:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811630

If you continue to have problems then you could try the following:

1) Delete the file hh.dat, which you should find in this directory:

\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\HTML
Help

This is a database file that saves such session information as the
window position and favorites for the HTML Help viewer. If the file
has been corrupted then .chm files may behave erratically.

Windows will automatically re-create the hh.dat file when you next
open any .chm file.

2) Empty your Temporary Internet Files (TIF) directory. A full TIF
directory can cause HTML Help files to misbehave.

3) Use MJ's Help Diagnostics to check that the HTML Help viewer
components are properly installed and registered on your machine.

Thanks,MVP, Pete, your critical update suggestion did the
trick. I had, at one time, done that, but through some
reinstalling, etc, I must have lost it and never re-
downloaded it. Anyway, thanks. lolly
