I'm not sure what you're asking. I've got no problems with that combination; what's wrong with having a screensaver and a wireless
mouse? What exactly is the problem you're experiencing?

My screensaver does not work on a new computer. I read in past history
threads that someone thought it was due to that combo w/the wireless. Im not
sure thats why but cant find another reason or solution.

Yes, there are lots of posts when screensaver not work when using a wireless
mouse.
Why don't you turn your mouse upside down.

Yes, I got that, but what do you mean by "does not work"? What about it doesn't work? How doesn't it work? Is there an error
message? Does it keep quitting and going back to the desktop? Does it never start? Does it show corrupted graphics? What?

not work = it is activated but it does not ever start. There is no error
message, there is no corruption because it never starts. The preview works
just fine but once on its own, it doesn't begin.

It worked i.e. started when I set up the computer hooked w/ a wired mouse.
Once I moved and attached the wireless, it hasn't started.

It doesnt work.

That doesn't make sense. How do you know it is activated if it doesn't start? What exactly happens that makes you think it
activated but didn't start? Is it just one screen saver, multiple, or all? What about the built-in ones? The star-field? The
blank-screen? Did you check your power options? Does it still work if you use your corded mouse?

Wow - that's just messed up.

What's messed up about it? It makes perfect sense. You don't want a screensaver kicking in while you're watching a movie do you?
The media software mentioned disables the screensaver so that your movie isn't interrupted while playing. Pretty much ALL media
players do this now. This particular one just happens to be less user-friendly with it's screensaver-disabling function than most,
that's all.

Only on a Dell..

No, on every computer that runs that software. It's software, not hardware. You can run that program on any other computer and it
will do the same thing. Like I said, all media players disable the screensaver while playing.

Then you are not using the MS 6000 mouse.

that is correct. there is some information in MS's Knowledge base but,
it does not correct problem. The Logitech wireless laser mouse/keyboard
does not cause problems.

The screensaver is prevented from loading automatically. You can create
a shortcut on the desktop and run the SS from there with no problems.

Well it must make sense to MS because they wrote about it.

No, they wrote about it not running at all. wanting perfection is saying that the screensaver is "activating" (whatever they mean
by that), but not starting. They should be the same thing.

Done. Now YOU reread it. Nowhere does it make a distinction between "activating" or "starting" the screensaver; and why should it?
They are the same thing.

I am having this exact problem. The problem to which the original
poster is referring can be referenced here:
http://www.windows-now.com/blogs/chris123nt/archive/2006/08/06/16537.aspx

Basically, after installing RC2 5744, the screensaver will not
activate. For example, if I set the screensaver to start in one
minute, I can wait and observe that nothing happens. If you set the
screensaver to activate in 10 minutes, again, it will not activate.

However, as the original poster noted, if you click the screensaver
preview it works fine. The problem is that on it’s own, the scrensaver
will not activate as it should after the pre-defined period of elapsed
time.

I am using the Microsoft Laser 6000 KB/Mouse combo, for which MS has
not released Vista drivers. Again, as the original poster noted, this
is a problem that many people seem to be having. We’re just hoping
someone has come up with a solution.

I am (we are) looking for a workaround, fix or other by which my
computer will automatically "time out" the screen after a period of
inactivity.
