Screen painting problems - Win2000 Server, GeForce FX 5200 AGP

I am having screen painting issues. I have Win2000 Server, and a
GeForce FX 5200 AGP. Both the original drivers on the CD for the GeForce
and the latest downloaded from nVidia exhibit the problem. It seems to be
memory related, in that it only happens after running some hogs like AOL 9
or the 3DNA 3d desktop. (It came on the GeForce CD, but can be downloaded
from http://www.3dna.net/).

Now, the 3DNA desktop is the quickest way to force the problems if you want
to see them.

The thing is, we aren't running out of system memory (512mb installed),
according to Task Manager.

I seem to recall there was a similar issue with Windows 98, where there was
a special pool of graphics resources that amounted to only 64k, and when it
was used up these kinds of problems happened. Does Windows 2000 have this
limitation as well? And if so, have they /lowered/ the pool? When we were
running Win98, with even /less/ memory, we did not see this problem just
from running AOL.

My wife insists on using AOL, so if there is a fix for this problem I would
like to know. Perhaps somebody knows a set of "good" drivers for the
GeForce? Or is it really not driver related after all?

Perhaps dialing back the color depth would help. Say 16bit color instead
of 32bit.
