scheduled scan

Hi All

I tried to set up a scheduled scan for 13:00,but it
always changes to 01:00.
Does this mean Microsoft only works in a 12 hour day
unlike the rest of the
world in a 24 hour day ???

DB
PS :
I tried : "set the system clock to
the 12 hour variety, set your schedule, then change the
clock back to 24.".
But it don't worked !!

Hello David,

Did you click on "Update Schedule", after you set you schedule?
May be a stupid quistion ;)
I am Duch and advice to do fresch install if your version is not working
correct and correct is that you can set de time if you put them to 12
hour and put them back after setting the time.
I do the trick to change language to US English and back to Dutch.
To do a real fresh intal follow this:

uninstall, Delete MSAS folder and
delete in C:\windows\system32 the following files:
GCCollection.dll
hashlib.dll
gcUnCompress.dll

run a regceaner (Ccleaner)

http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp

Also use the temp cleaner of Ccleaner.

Do a fresh install with version .615 (latest)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

Working this way you know that you are really running .615 with all old
things not anymore on the system!!!

The old bugs are not away ;)

When I first got microsoft antispyware, the scheduled scans worked
perfectly...along with the auto update. For the last several months, it
won't do any of the scheduled tasks. I've tried reinstalling the software
several times, and anything else I can think of to get it working but it
won't go.

Then about a month ago, the same thing happened on my Mother in laws
computer...so I know its not just me.

I'm still running Windows 2000 professional, and the mother in law has the
newer XP.

Does anyone have some tips to get this thing running properly again?

The message that you are replying to involves a particular bug, which has a
simple workaround.

Someone who hadn't noticed that bug might find that scans were not taking
place because they weren't logged into the machine in the AM time when the
scans are, in fact, scheduled for.

However, I'll take you at your word that scheduled scans are not happening
at all, and that this isn't just the afternoon versus morning issue.

In that case, here's what I'd do do rejuvenate things.

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete \program files\microsoft antispyware and all sub-folders. You
will lose access to any quarantined items, and history information, and
customized settings.
3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware, making certain to be installing the
latest available build, and be logged in as the administrator user who will
customarily use the software.

Bill-

Thanks for the advice. I did just as you said and all is working again. I
guess I didn't realized when I uninstalled the antispyware before
reinstalling it again, there was a folder and some information that didnt
get cleared out. That was obviously the difference maker because after I
deleted the whole folder, and reinstalled, it has worked like it did when
new. Thanks again.

Quite a bit is left behind, I believe by design, so that information is not
lost in an uninstall/reinstall. Some of the problems folks see, however,
appear to involve some form of corruption in how, say, chosen settings are
recorded. Blowing away the installation folder puts everything back from
scratch, thus fixing that. There should be a more surgical approach, but I
don't know it. Beta2 darn well be better in this regard!
