SBS 2K Shared Fax Service Discount Rates?

P

Peter Augello

Hi all:
I am trying to get Shared Fax Service to stop sending
faxes at night. We do blast faxes, the same fax to a
distribution list of 1500 numbers or so, and want the
service to stop sending at night and pick up again in the
morning. I have set "Discount rate start" to 8:30 am
and "Discount rate stop" to 8:30 pm (on the Outbox tab of
the Shared Fax properties page) and then sent the faX
making sure that "When discount rates apply" is checked on
the fax transmission scheduling page, but it doesn't
work. The faxes continue to go out all night.
Any ideas as to what is wrong, or suggestions of
another way to acheive my goal?
BTW, we have a 4 port serial card installed and a
bank of 4 fax modems.

THX, Pete

On SBS 2K, you have 2 fax printers - SBS Shared Fax & Fax. Make sure you are
sending faxes using the fax printer on which you have set the discount
rates. Just to test if the configuration is correct, send one fax to a
single recipient and see if its being sent immediately or waiting until the
discount rates period.

On Windows 2003, for Outbox tab on Fax Service Properties, there are two
options "Disable submission of outgoing faxes" and "Disable transmitting of
faxes in Outgoing queue". You can set the second option at 8:30PM daily and
unset it at 8:30 AM next day. These two are settable programmatically using
Extended Fax COM APIs and so you can automate this using Scheduled Tasks.
Please check if the same are available on SBS 2000 Shared Fax Service.
