Saving PPT files as JPEG files

Running Power Point 97 on XP --

Since updating to XP -- Power Point no longer includes
the capability of "saving as" a JPEG (.jpg)

The "save as" function includes several other formats
including WMF and GIF

But no jpg in the drop down menu in the "Save As"
dialogue box

Any ideas?
Do I need to update PP 97?

I have PowerPoint 97 running on Windows XP and the save to JPG is there.
It's at the bottom of the list, between .png and .gif.
