saving on CD-Roms

I have a writable CD-Rom but when I try to save a word document on it an
error message appears. It says, "Word cannot save or create this file. Please
make sure the disk you want to save it on is not full, damaged or
write-protected". The disk is brand new so it is not full or damaged. How do
I remedy this dilemma?

Do not under any circumstances save directly from Word onto removable
media or open a document directly from removable media. That includes
CD-RW, floppy disks, flash drives, Zip drives, etc.

Always copy the file from the removable media to the hard drive,
open/edit/save on the hard drive, close, and then copy back to the
removable media.

The problem arises because of the way Word uses temporary files, most
of which must be in the same folder as the original document. Even
when Word appears to allow operations on a removable drive, you run a
high risk of document corruption. Consider the error message as Word's
badly worded attempt to save you from making a horrible mistake.

Word cannot save directly to a CD. Save to the HD, then copy to the CD using
your disk-mastering software.
