Lost in Write-Protected Cyberspace

I've edited a resume today in Word from a resume on my flash drive, but
when I tried "Saving" the Damn document, I got a "NastyGram" stating "Word
cannot save or create this file. Make sure the disk you want to save the file
on is not full, write-protected, or damaged". This doesn't make any sense to
me at all!
After selecting another resume to "Save" similarly on this flash drive, I
got another similar message, stating the file was "write-protected" and
therefore couldn't be saved! I've tried finding "Help" in Word, but nothing
they've suggested seems to make sense or work to "unblock" these documents!
What gives here anyway????????????? I copied files to this flash drive
some time ago and have done "ZILCH" to it to cause any problems whatever!!!
This is extremely frustrating! Can anyone explain this magilla to me in plain
English?
Thank you for "reprogramming my simple little cortex" here!... Steve

Save the file to your had drive then copy it over to the flash drive.

Never, never, never open a file directly from removable media. Never, never,
never save it to removable media. Also work on your hard drive.
