saving images from the web

Ever since yesterday I've been having problems saving my
images from the web. Instead of saving them in their
original format and original name (in this case .jpg),
it's been saving them as untitled with the .bmp format.
The only thing I can change is the name of the file. Is
not giving me anyother obtions regarding type. I have
to go back to my folder and press 'save as' in order to
change the format. Does anybody know what caused that?
