jpegs are being saved as bmps

When I save an image from the web, even when "properties"
indicates it's a jpg file, it's saving
as "untitled" "bitmap". This never used to happen and
system restore isn't fixing it. How can I save web
images as jpg instead of bitmap? Many thanks for any
help.

I am having the same problem. I only have the choice of
save picture as "art or bitmap". The picture is jpg but
nothing, I can find, seems to open the file.

I had just recently connected to AOL. That was the
problem with "Save Picture As". The
