Saves in .bmp format only

jacob farino

I have IE6, and suddenly, everytime I right click on a .jpg picture in the
browser, go to save picture as, it only allows me to save as a .bmp (and the
file name is always "untitled")

I cleared my internet cookies, and deleted all offline and online temporary
internet files. Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much,
Jacob

Jacob,

Delete the index.dat completely

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/mrublaster.htm

Click Start/Run and type this command to fix the 'Content Type' settings:

regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll
(and/or)
regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll (for WinXP)

"Every time"? or just some particular ones? (e.g. only uncached ones?)

E.g. what happens if you do this:
1. Open the TIF viewer (Alt-T,O,Alt-S,V)
2. Look for some .jpg (press F3, enter *.jpg)
3. Drag one of the cached .jpg to an IE window
4. Can you save it? (In particular is the name "Untitled"? <eg>)
