Save As Picture type - PowerPoint 2007

Heather

Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to change the default Save As
Picture type from PNG to another file type e.g. jpeg? In other words, when I
right click onto a picture which I want to save to file, PowerPoint always
defaults to PNG which I don't want.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Heather

I don't think you can change what it defaults to but here it depends on the
format you start with.

jpegs save as jpegs
gifs as gif
shapes and textboxes as pngs

(The latter to preserve transparency)

Isn't that what you see?

I suppose there is a Key in the registry that could be changed?

Heather, this is a GREAT question, one I hope can be addressed in the future.
Is there anyone that wants a .png file? Microsoft: Please don't attempt to
boss your employers (the customer) around. Let us make our own choices with
defaults and toolbars (option to ditch the ribbon) etc. Having been through
several Usability Group sessions, I know MS was at one time concerned with
the desires of the end user. It appears they have become more and more
top-down/dictatorial. Pity.
