Powerpoint assembled graphics

I assemble a graphic in Powerpoint 2007 (from squares, rectangles, arrows,
text, etc), turn them around to desired positions, and then group them.
However, when I past the grouped figure (group, copy, paste) into Word 2007,
or even onto another page in Powerpoint, the assembled figures that were
turned and grouped, turn back to their original positions and the entire
figure is no longer the one that was copied. Is there a way to stop this
from happening. Even if I use "paste special', it still happens. I've had
to resort to "save as picture" and then import a picture....which doesn't
look exactly like the Powerpoint graphic (tried in several different picture
formats... bmp, png, jpg, gif)....had to finally use a screen copy program
and save as picture (at least that picture, bmp, looked exactly like the
Powerpoint graphic). Is there a way to stop the graphic portions from
turning back to other positions when pasted into Word or another page in
Powerpoint?

1. compatability mode?... I don't know, how do you determine that?
2. WinXP, fully updated with the most recent updates.
3. I had a complex flow diagram using ppt drawing objects grouped together
for small figures (using 3 small rectangles to make a Y-shape, group them
together and turning it to desired position)....several of these.
4. grouped the entire diagram
5. When copy-pasted directly into Word 2007 (or into a text box), some of
the 'turned items' that were grouped are not turned a different way and in a
different position....arrrgghhhh.

I cannot repro this here. Can you give us the exact steps you're using to
create and group/copy/paste the objects?

Are you working in compatibility mode in PPT?

Have you installed SP1 for Office 2007?

Which operating system are you using?

1. compatibility mode is what you get when you open a PPT 97-2003 format
file in PowerPoint. Once you use Office Button | Save As to save it as a
PPTX (2007 format file), then you're no longer in compatibility mode.
Usually it says "compatibility mode" up at the top of the PowerPoint screen.

Regarding your repro steps, I'm sorry, but those aren't specific enough to
help me reproduce this problem. As it's not an issue I've ever seen reported
here, I suspect it's something specific to your system.

You mentioned pasting into a textbox. If you're pasting your grouped objects
into a placeholder (the box that says "click to add text), the group will
stretch to fill the placeholder, which means some of the items within the
grouped object might be stretched. But I can't make them actually turn or
reposition the way I think you're describing.

I have experienced a similar problem with copying graphics from PPT 2007 to
Word 2007. The graphics I have created typically include text boxes, lines,
shapes, and pictures grouped together. When I copy the grouped graphic object
to Word I must paste it as a picture or an MS Office Graphic Object. None of
these formats allow me to ungroup the object and edit it in Word. I am not
working in the compatibility mode.

Do you maybe have an example slide that you could email to echos at indy dot
net? I'm happy to paste stuff into Word and see if I can repro it. Please
include the text of these posts so I remember what it is I'm supposed to be
looking at!

Were the graphics, etc., rotated before grouping and pasting?
