Powerpoint repainting the slide for graphics

When I use powerpoint for graphic images it keeps repainting the slide
sometimes for over 10 minutes. Is there a way to stop this. The images are
mostly created using the "save a s picture" option in powerpoint and they are
often composits of a couple of images. Most in not all of them are in
Enhanced Windows Metafile format.

TerryOrt,

If powerpoint redraws the screen (more than twice) while you are editing
your slides, then you need to update your "graphics card drivers" for your
version of windows.
