If your using Sandisk CF cards and setting them to be fixed disk you may need to request the new utility from Sandisk

Only if you see error #7 when you try to set the control register

Are you talking about "ATCFWCHG.COM" vs "ndcfwchg" ? If so, the update was a while ago (09/03, I think).
If not, is it a new update from Sandisk?

Send a query to Sandisk for more info. They require you to sign a
licence agreement form to get the app, so fire up your fax...
