Same subject...little different twist

Outlook 2003 is keeping messages in the Outbox. The account settings have
been checked and a test message is sent and recieved. However, when I try to
send the messages (which are in italics and bolded) I get the following
response back from my ISP.
Task 'pop.earthlink.net - Sending reported error (0x800CCc78) ; Unable to
send the message. Please verify the e-mail address in your account
properties. The server respondedd: 530 Authentication required'

Again, the account properties have been checked and re-checked. The
settings have not been changed and was working just fine a day or two ago.
Can anyone help with this crazyness ?

This clearly states that Earthlink is not receiving a username/password with
the SMTP connection. Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Select your
account. Click Change>More Settings>Outgoing Server. Make sure "My
outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" is checked and that the
appropriate radio button underneath that is selected.

Brian,

Thanks for your response...however in checking further, this was one of
those messages/ situations in earlier threads having to do with trying to
forward a message. When the message was copied and pasted into a new message
to the same recieptient...it sent just fine. Even though the ISP message
appeared...this doesn't explain, with the same settings...why test messages
from Outlook can be sent and received.

I don't belive the Test bottom exercises the entire send/receive path.

<blush> That should be "I don't believe the Test button exercises the
entire path".
