Cannot "send" emails!

S

Sherry Greckel

Please help!! I have been on vacation for the past week
and when I returned home yesterday I had received quite a
few emails, but have not been able to send any! I have
used this version of Microsoft Outlook since last January
and have never had a problem. The following message keeps
coming up: "Task 'mail.comcast.net-sending and receiving
reported error (0x800CCC78): Unable to send the message.
Please verify the email address in your account
properties. The server responded: 530 authentication
required." I know the email addresses are correct. Please
help and respond ASAP - need to send to some emails!

Thank you very much,
Sherry

It sounds like Comcast is now requiring authentication
to launch outgoing mail. In that case, try this:

Go to Tools/Accounts and choose the Mail tab. Under
Accounts choose mail.comcast.net and choose Properties.
Click on the Servers tab and make sure Outgoing mail is
smtp.comcast.net. Under Outgoing Mail Server choose
"My server requires authentication" and click on
Settings and choose "Use same settings as my incoming
mail server."

Click OK as required and try again.
