same dvd-r that previously worked now not being recognised

I bought the exact same type of dvd-r that I had used previously on nero and
worked however this time, it does not even load up nero or acknowledge that
a blank dvd-r is in the ram drive, is this a known issue?

Have you tried to go to the device manager and uninstall the drive then
reboot the system and let the system reinstall the drive again?
