Runtime JavaScript Error

B

A little while ago I felt, due to many hang-up problems, that I needed to
reformat my hard disk and re-install my software. This has been a long
process, and I am not completely done yet. I used the Recovery Disks for my
machine (an HP), which installed Windows 98, and then I re-installed Windows
ME, which I had been using. I cannot install Windows XP on this computer,
as the BIOS will not take it.

I have been installing, one by one, the various Critical Updates from
Microsoft, and other updates as I go along. All was running well until
about March 23rd, when I installed the IE6 update. After that we began to
have error problems while running Internet Explorer. I thought I might
re-install the IE6 update, but that did not solve the problem. I have tried
using the System Restore to a time before this update was installed, but
this would not take.

The Error window that pops up when trying to get into some websites is
something like this:

"A Runtime Error has occurred
Do you wish to Debug?

Line: 26 (or some other number, sometimes 0)
Error: Object required"

If I click Yes (to debug) I get a message something like this:

"An exception "Runtime Error" has occurred in Script.

However, no debuggers are registered that can debug this exception, Unable
to JIT debug."

One time the message specifically mentioned JavaScript.

These runtime errors have kept us from doing many things in Internet
Explorer that we used to be able to do.

Bill,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced...
Check "Disable script debugging" and uncheck "Display a notification about
every script error."

Also in Internet Options> Advanced> Microsoft VM> check JIT compiler
enabled, uncheck Java console enabled and Java logging enabled. if you have
Java (Sun) or JRE (Sun) uncheck it.

Check yor version of MS VM http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm

Hope this helps,
Don
