javascript runtime errors driving me batty

A few days ago my IE suddenly started acting up. Any page
that has a javascript on it generates a popup, one per
script, that says "Runtime error occurred. Do you wish to
debug? Line: <some #> Error: Access is denied"

I put this in debug and find that it's popping up on the
closing statement for the script </SCRIPT>.

Can't imagine why this started suddenly, and would like
to know how to stop it? Complete re-install of IE?

Casey,
Most of the time this is just errors on the web site ..... not your end.
However some ad-blocking apps will cause this (script error) when the ad or
banner fails to display.

Internet Options | Advanced
Select: "Disable script debugging"
Uncheck: "Display a notification about every script error", click Apply\Ok

Verify these Registry entries exist and are correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Disable Script Debugger"="yes"
"Error Dlg Details Pane Open"="yes"
"Error Dlg Displayed On Every Error"="no"
"NoJITSetup"=dword:00000000
"NoWebJITSetup"=dword:00000001

Note: always Export before editing .....

Download the latest version of Windows Script 5.6 for XP\2K

Try installing that and see if it helps with your problem.
