Running 0ld programs on XP

I have a program that (finale 2003) that freezes the com[uter on playback. I
was told that you can make XP accept this as a program to run in Windows 95
and it will work just fine.

How do I get XP to run this program as if in 95?

It's called "compatibility mode" (look it up in Help and Support), and
there's no guarantee that it will "work just fine." It may be OK under
compatibility mode or it may not. It depends on the program.
