rundll32.exe - Entry Point Not Found

R

Robin

Every time I open "My Computer" properties I get the
following msg.

rundll32.exe - Entry Point Not Found

x The procedure entry point
RemoteAssistancePrepareSystemRestroe could not be located
in the dynamic link library WINSTA.dll.

Hitting ok closes the dialog and opens the computer
properties dialog. The error msg is just annoying.
Started happening after I ran an XP Pro u/g over my XP
Pro rather than run new (re)install.

any ideas?

In Google Groups, one expert suggests:
"Try running "sfc /scannow" at a command prompt."
It cannot harm your files, and repairs any XP files that are corrupted
SCANNOW:

The following assumes you have an actual XP CD as opposed to a restore CD or
restore partition supplied by your PC manufacturer.

Go to Start, type sfc /scannow in the run box and press enter. Note, there
is a space between sfc and the forward slash. You will be asked for your XP
CD. Be aware, upon inserting the CD the XP setup screen may appear, this is
not a part of sfc /scannow, rather it is being invoked by autorun. Simply
minimize the screen and allow sfc to continue.
