&Run... in Start Menu -- Where did it come from?

I have an entry for &Run... directly below the entry for Internet Explorer in my Start Menu. I do
not know where it came from. There isn't any option for it in Taskbar Properties\Start
Menu\Customize\General\Show on Start Menu.

It is not in the Taskbar Properties\Start Menu\Customize\Advanced list.

Please note this is a separate entry from the Run... that appears in the bottom right part of the
Start Menu if you select it in Taskbar Properties\Start Menu\Customize\Advanced.

If I right click on it there is an option to remove it from the list. Before I do that I would like
to know what it is for and how to put it back if I want to do that after I remove it.

I tried searching for it but the search engines I tried, included Microsoft's Knowledge base, return
hundreds and sometimes thousands of entries with a hit on just Run.

Click it. If it does something you like, keep it.

BTW, here are two searches that limit the hits:

6 hits
"&Run" "start menu" -" & "

792 hits
"&Run" -" & "

The first one included this jewel, that suggests how it got there:

It sounds like something you may have installed to improve on the Run
command; a 3rd party app you installed, in other words. Did you install
anything just before noticing that entry?

Google brings up quite a few hits on
$run
by the way. One of them may be what you need.

It appears that I accidentally dragged the Run command from the bottom right side of the Start Menu
to the area under Internet Explorer on the top left.

Sorry about that.
