rthdcpl.exe taking 99% CPU at startup

For the past couple of months I have noticed that RTHDCPL.exe is taking up
all the CPU usage and this lasts for between 5 - 10 mins. I have tried
uninstalling the driver and then reinstalling but this has had no effect. I
cannot be sure if an update has caused this problem so I am unsure if the
solution for the .dll fix is appropriate. I am tempted to install it but
don't want to make things worse. I have an ASUS mobo with onboard realtek
audio.

Also can someone point me in the right direct to find out if my UAA is
installed/up to date. I can not seem to find it but could be looking in the
wrong places.

You need to uninstall your old Realtek Audio Driver located in
the Programs and Features applet located in the Control Panel.

Then visit:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

and download/install the latest Windows Vista drivers.

I am currently downloading that driver (very low - 7kb/s - transfer rate)
but I am curious as to why there has been no problem up until a couple of
months ago?
