RPC hates me

Does anyone know how to test RPC connectivity between two
servers, two sites? All was working fine but now we're
getting the dreaded 'RPC Server Is Unavailable' error and
are attempting to determine if it's something wrong on one
of the servers or if something was closed off at a
firewall (it's a university so that happens frequently).

Does anyone out there know how to test whether this error
is firewall, DNS, etc?

What are you doing to cause the error to appear? If you are trying to force
replication then it is probably a DNS problem. You may want to run
dcdiag.exe and netdiag.exe on the DCs if that is the case. There are 2
reskit utilities that can be used to t-shoot RPC problems. They are
rpcping.exe and rpcdump.exe.

look at the firewall logs and it should show you if it is droping the
packets of port 135 the RPC useses.
I bet the college has blocked this to stop the blaster type viri
