Restoring System State did not bring back Sysvol

I reinstalled a 2K Server and restored an system state backup from tape.
After rebooting the server, the content from sysvol was missing; the polices
and scripts were not there anymore.
I thought sysvol was backed up as a part of system state. Am I wrong?
If so, how can a prevent a sysvol data loss?

There is only one DC in this network.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your reply. The article says System State Backup DOES contain
Sysvol tree. But when i'm restoring it, sysvol came up with no files in it.

how can i restore sysvol from backup and get the files in its right locations?

Did you have a full backup of your servers OS?
Was the Sysvol folder backed up? If so could you restore
it from there?
