Trouble after a System State restore

I

Isaac

We had an Active Directory failure a couple of nights
ago. The DC wasn't rebooting because Active Directory
failed to load. So I restored it from the System State
data + Sysvol folder on a backup tape. The restore
appeared to be successful with users able to successfuly
logon.

Now, though, in the Directory Services section of event
viewer I'm noticing that the Knowledge Consistency checker
is logging Event ID 1130 with the message:

"The automatic topology generator was unable to complete
the topology for site CN=Oakville-
Office,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=private,DC=ledex,
error code 7, and internal id f08028f. "

I checked back in the event log and noticed that when we
had the AD failure ( and server didn't reboot fully) this
error was already being logged. It seems as though this
KCC problem is closely related to the reason why AD failed
in first place.

Since we have only one Domain Controller there;s no need
that I see in keeping the KCC Inter-Site Topology
generator enabled. I tried disabling it according to MS
KB 245610 & 242780 but I got errors. It is still enabled
and logging errors.

Help!

Thanks, Isaac

Issac, could you expand on what you mean by : "The DC wasn't rebooting
because Active Directory failed to load"

Cheers,
