Hi,
I have a Compaq presario 2500 series laptop. I was facing problem in
running many programs and I decided to restore it to factory defaults
using Compaq quick restore CDs. After It finished the first CD and
prompted to place the next CD. Once I place the second CD the process
continued but suddenly a popup message came up saying "The content of
the CD os not correct". I tried removing and replacing the CD again but
the same popup appeared. And I cancelled the porcess which took me to
Dos prompt. I swiched off the machine and powered it on. After it
started message came "No operating system" and cursor kept on blinking.
The restore application was not starting even when I put the first
quickrestore CD because of no OS.
Then I placed Win XP SP1 CD to start windows but computers turns off
while starting windows. The Win XP CD starts well with loading the
files but when it says starting Windows the coputer shuts off.
I tried a Win 2000 pro bootable CD but it gave the same result.
Pls let me know how can I restore windows onto my machine so taht I can
run the factory restore CDs.

Thanks,
Rag

This is Windows XP. You have Compaq XP so you need to ask Compaq. They wrote their program and only Compaq customers have it.
