Resize folder view

I've tried to google this and cannot find any solution to my problem. My
recycle bin, control panel and the search>for file and folders windows always
open up in normal mode kind of mid sized windows and not maximized. No
matter how many times I stretch out the windows they wont stay maximized for
long and they revert back to mid sized again. Can anybody help me with this
please.

Hi

Try this:

Drag the window to the size you want it, then close that window via
File>Close/Exit.

Several settings impact this. First, In Windows Explorer you need to
Click Tools, Folder Options, View - Scroll down and make sure that
a Check/Tic is enabled for "Remember each Folder's View Settings."

Also Windows XP employs a limit to how many individual folder
views are saved. If you have SP2 this value should be 5000. Called
"BagMRU Size" this Registry key controls view retentions. I also like
to keep views locked and have increased this value higher than 5000.

Kelly's Korner ( A great repository for Fixes/Patches & Enhancements)
has a fix for the BagMRU size, entry #2

Ok it's been a few hours and what you suggested seems to have done the trick.
Thank you :)

One of the first things I looked at and it was checked.

I do have SP2. What you've just suggested above is that the same as TweakUI's
Explorer>Customizations>Folder Customizations setting? If so that is set at
400.

I actually tried Kelly's site last night but couldn't find anything obvious
to my problem :) Should I still use the above fix anyway?

I would use Kelly's tweak, Tweak-UI has a problem with the
customization setting, it writes the Registry Key as Bag MRU Size
and not the correct BagMRU Size.

If you are comfortable with Registry editing, you can make the
changes yourself.

HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell
HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam

Just modify the BagMRU Size key value (Decimal is easier if you
aren't a Hexadecimal person).
